Finding Herself, Confidence, and Embracing the Unknown

Jennie recently released her new EP and a recent Cosmopolitan interview, she shared three things that have shaped who she is today.

1. Finding Herself – The Journey That Never Really Ends
“In my head, I’m still such a free and young spirit that’s on a journey to find herself. The past 10 years have taught me how to communicate, how to embrace things I’m not comfortable with.”

This is what psychologists call individuation (Carl Jung). It is the lifelong process of becoming more fully yourself. Finding yourself is not a random moment of clarity but a continuous, sometimes uncomfortable, unfolding.

Jennie describes needing a “survival instinct” to get through her growing pains. What I took away from this is that she’s choosing to show up for herself, repeatedly, even when it’s hard.

2. Confidence – Starting With Your Own Body
“I’m becoming friends with my body. There are definitely things that I’ve been insecure about. I’m a very petite person, and early on, I felt the need to make myself look tall. But I’m learning to love my own body and to see what works on my body the best. I’m more confident with myself.”

“Becoming friends with my body” is such an honest way to describe what body neutrality looks like in practice. Not waking up one day suddenly loving everything about yourself but it’s about learning to work with yourself instead of against yourself.

3. Embracing the Unknown – Leaving Space for What’s Next
“I’m leaving a little blank space in my head to see if there’s anything else I want to reach for. It’s very special, the unknowingness. It gives me space to just think. I’m seeing it as a great opportunity. But for now, I’m spending every minute and second in it.”

In a world that rewards having a five year plan, Jennie chooses a blank space!

Psychologists call this tolerance of ambiguity which is the ability to sit with uncertainty without needing to immediately resolve it. Research shows it’s strongly linked to creativity, resilience, and better decision making. When you’re not rushing to fill every gap, you leave room for something unexpected and possibly better to arrive.
