KATSEYE’s latest EP Wild is rooted in self-discovery, where the group embraces every version of themselves.
But what does self-discovery actually mean? And why does it feel like something we’re supposed to have figured out already?

When Coping Mechanisms Become Identity
Some of us think we fully know ourselves. We’re the independent one, or the one who keeps the peace and is easy-going, or the reliable one. But what if some of those identities aren’t really who you are, but patterns you developed to stay safe?
People-Pleasing: “Whatever you want is fine. I’m okay with anything”
You tried expressing your needs once but was met with disapproval or dismall. So keeping quiet became easier than the risk.
Hyper-Independence: “Thanks but I dont need your help. I can do it myself.”
Past reliance may have led you to feel like a burden, disappointment or abandonment. Eventually you learn to be alone as it’s safer.
Procrastination: “I’m sure I have enough time to do it later”
If you never fully try, you can never fully fail. Procrastination is sometimes protection in disguise.

What Self-Discovery Actually Looks Like
These patterns are not your identity. They’re your self-protector speaking as it’s doing what it learned to keep you safe.
Self-discovery is gently asking: is this still serving me? Or am I holding onto a story that no longer fits?
You’re allowed to release the narratives you’ve been telling yourself for years. You’re allowed to still be discovering.
That’s what Wild is really about.
