The Courage It Takes to Return

Sometimes, it takes courage to go back to something you left, or something that left you. Whether it’s a friendship that drifted, a family relationship that fractured, a community you stepped away from, or a version of yourself you thought you lost, returning requires vulnerability that moving forward often doesn’t. *note this does not apply to abusive relationships.

Sometimes, saying to yourself that you “left and never looked back”, sounds like you were strong as it gives off this odd “winning” feeling. While, returning may sound like you have failed or you couldn’t make it on your own.

But sometimes returning to something after awhile gives you a different perspective, and it gives you a second chance to try at it again, but better this time.

Coming Back Home

“The main message for the album is about chasing your dreams. Along the way, you will face challenges, and people may not believe in you. But that’s fine. Like a lotus flower, they start from nothing and become something beautiful.” – Lay

When you learn something about yourself, there is growth, and that is never a failure.  Just like Lay, you can always return to something you once did, or liked.

The healthiest thing you can do isn’t to wait for perfect conditions to reconnect. It is asking if there is something worth returning to and taking the courage to do so.
