Stress and our brain

Mindfulness and Stress
In mindfulness, we learn how we can intentionally switch gears and shift the attention to where we want it to be.

Hands Practice

Body Scan
Start by relaxing your body in a comfortable position and dropping the attention down into your feet. Feel the contact points on the floor, the big toes, the toe next to it, all the way to the tiniest toe. Next shifting the attention to the stomach, the belly. How does it feel like? As you breathe, can you feel your belly expanding and contracting, rising and falling.
Let’s shift further –elbow, tongue, nose.
Nose: Take a slightly longer, deeper breath and see if you can feel the physical sensation of the breath at the tip of the nose, going in and out of your nostrils. Becoming aware of your breath, the temperature, the pace.
Lastly, seeing if you can widen the lens and feel your whole body breathing. Feel how breathing is a whole body experience. Notice where exactly in the body are these sensations strongest or most vivid for you.
When you are ready, gradually opening your eyes.
